From Telling to Teaching: A Dialogue Approach to Adult Learning - a three-day train the trainer program offered at your site for 10-12 people. Your group will be immersed in dialogue and the language of dialogue design. In teams, they will apply a simple yet powerful workshop design model to their own work, designing and then actually teaching a brief session to colleagues. This program is especially appropriate for an organization that wants to change directions in curriculum and teaching strategies, and needs "buy-in" from key leaders. It also serves up a lot of facilitation skills, team building, inspiration, and motivation! Included in the program is a pre-training needs, plus post-session design feedback. From Telling To Teaching: Curriculum Design - This day and a half session includes the fundamentals of dialogue design and the same powerful workshop design format included in the three-day program. In teams, participants apply their knowledge and skills to an actual design, then present it to colleagues for feedback. This course is an alternative to the three-day teaching version for groups that can only commit to the day and half format. A pre-session needs assessment is included. Groups who have participated in this program include food bank nutritionists/educators and micro-enterprise organizations.
Raising All Voices: A Dialogue Approach to Teaching! A day long or half day highly interactive and dialogue rich program, designed to give groups of educators (any size) an introduction to what is possible when they move from a "stand up and tell" to a "sit down and share" approach to education. It includes information about the power of warm-ups and closings, activating prior learning, learning styles, open questions, partnering options, and language reinforcement. Participants will be actively engaged in each topic, experiencing the power of dialogue for themselves. The program is appropriate for all staff, including paraprofessionals.
"Ya Gotta Have Heart!" - a half day workshop featuring the qualities and skills adult educators need to "connect" with their learners. It examines the research-supported role of caring in teaching, enthusiasm and why it matters, attitude and the difference it makes, and relationship/trust building as a key component of the education environment. This session is appropriate for all education related audiences. It is completely interactive, hands-on, and a lot of fun!
"Do You Believe In Magic?" - a 3 hour workshop featuring the seven key facilitation skills that support a dialogue approach to teaching a learning. It features Invite, Ask, Wait, Affirm, Weave, Energize and Embrace in a totally interactive format. Designing for dialogue is just one element of improving education. The seven key facilitation skills allow dialogue to happen! This half day session is especially appropriate for groups who have had at least an introduction to From Telling To Teaching.
NOTE: "Ya Gotta Have Heart" and "Do You Believe In Magic?" can be combined into a powerful one - day session, especially appropriate for groups who have been introduced to the basics of designing for dialogue.
